Mario Montes is an actor and artist based in New York City. Raised in Brooklyn by a family of artists, he grew up surrounded by creativity and has spent his life deepening that inheritance through film, performance, and the classical stage.
A proud alumnus of Saint Ann's School, Mario discovered his love for acting through the school's annual Shakespeare workshop, sparking a passion for classical texts that has only grown since. He went on to earn his BA in Theatre with a concentration in acting from Northwestern University, where he continued to develop that connection, most notably as Ariel in The Tempest and as a member of the Chorus in Antigone (both at the Wirtz Center). A formative summer training with the Prague Shakespeare Company culminated in his role as Claudio in Much Ado About Nothing.
Raised with a deep appreciation for film, Mario has recently expanded into on-screen work, with appearances in Sophia Takal's Act One, Jessica Herlitz's Shedding, and Hal Nathan's Cloudbound Eagle. He has seen well over a thousand films and shows no signs of stopping. When he's not performing, Mario enjoys cooking, photography, and long walks through his first love, New York City.
